DRAGONS’ DEFENSE TAKES CHARGE ON OPENING NIGHT
SHEPHERDSVILLE — It’s about 1 a.m. Eastern Time, Hoss, and I think I’m gonna write in the morning.
But it was a memorable night, as an inspired Warren Central football team snapped a 61-game losing streak with an impressive 13-0 victory over homestanding Bullitt Central.
The Dragons opened the scoring on senior quarterback Kayumba Jean Aime’s nifty 19-yard touchdown run with 7:58 left in the half. Warren Central’s defense turned in a strong effort, and the Dragons took control on Jean Aime’s 1-yard scoring run on a quarterback sneak in the fourth quarter.
Second-year Warren Central coach Mark Nelson was thrilled for his team.
“They’ve got this (the losing streak) off their back,” Nelson said when it was over. “Now they can go back to school, and look forward to being a high school football player. This was something we really wanted for our seniors.”
The Dragons (1-0) will travel to face Todd County Central next week.
I’ll write the complete story in the morning. Sayonara, homeslice …
