GAME THREE AWAITS/Hot Rods drop 13-6 decision at Aberdeen, will play for SAL championship tonight

HOT RODS LOOKING FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE LEAGUE TITLE

Perhaps it’s not surprising that the South Atlantic League championship would come down to one final game.

It did last year, when the Bowling Green Hot Rods slipped past the Greensboro Grasshoppers 6-3 to claim the league title.

But that milestone took place on Eighth Avenue. At Bowling Green Ballpark. Tonight, the Hot Rods will have to win a championship the hard way.

On the road.

In the final game of a best-of-three championship series.

The Aberdeen Ironbirds struck for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on Tuesday night, building a seven-run lead on their way to a 13-6 victory over the Hot Rods at Ripken Ballpark.

Over the course of the season, the Hot Rods have compiled a 79-53 record, comparable to the 82-36 record from last year. (Comparable, at least in the win column. Last year’s .695 winning percentage was off the hook.)

Aberdeen is 78-56 on the season.

Tonight’s game will begin at 6:10 CDT. The game will be broadcast on Talk 104.1 FM/WKCT, 930 AM.

Should be interesting.
