Well, I did it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four high school games in roughly 72 hours, although I did miss much of the first half in South Warren’s resounding victory over Highlands High School in the first game of the Rafferty’s Bowl at WKU’s Houchens-Smith Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not bad for a guy approaching his 66th birthday, if you ask me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Started out with Thursday’s game in Morgantown, as Butler County manhandled visiting Russellvlle 34-13. Then, on Friday, I tried to get some things done before getting on the road for the big game in Shepherdsville, as Warren Central snapped its 61-game losing streak with a 13-0 victory over Bullitt Central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stadium’s scoreboard lights went out by the time second-year WCHS coach Mark Nelson convened with his team in the nearby end zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warren Central had not won a game since the 2015 season, but the Dragons took the fight to Bullitt Central on Friday night. Senior quarterback A.J. Jean Aime rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns, while passing for 179 yards, in Warren Central’s victory over the Cougars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Had some technical issues while finishing up on the Warren Central story but got to the Rafferty’s Bowl in time to see South Warren dominate visiting Highlands at WKU. The Spartans scored three defensive touchdowns, and sophomore quarterback Bryce Button, making his first start under center, completed 11 of 18 passes for 190 yards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Button hit SWHS teammate Keegan Milby on an 11-yard touchdown pass early in the second half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Warren, last year’s KHSAA Class 5A state champion, travels to play the Hendersonville (Tennessee) Commandos on Friday. Hendersonville was the one team to defeat the Spartans, last season, taking a 27-20 decision on South Warren’s home field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After South Warren took care of business, Bowling Green squared off with North Hardin, and the Purples turned it on in the second half to win 23-14. The Trojans went ahead 14-10 on Shane Boykins’ dazzling 61-yard touchdown run down the left sideline in the final minute of the first half, but the BGHS defense took control after halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
